Inherited jobs to be scrapped in Málaga cleaning company

Málaga City Hall has decided to do away with the anachronisms in some of the public, or partially public companies in the city. A case in point is the cleaning company Limasa where new workers have the right to inherit their job from their parents. The City Hall has a 49% share in Limasa. At the next council meeting two articles in the collective agreement are set to be scrapped, stopping the inheriting of job positions. The inheritance of jobs was common practice in the Spanish public sector many years ago, and when the offspring did not want the post they had inherited, they would then sell the opportunity to the highest bidder. Three years ago the PP and PSOE in Málaga voted to end the practice following a motion from the IU left wingers. Mayor, Francisco de la Torre, said action was being taken now as people have realised the consequences of the two articles.
